Sawtell remain the only unbeaten side after Round 2 courtesy of a five-goal victory over a gallant North Coffs outfit.
The match lived up to its Grand Final replay billing in what was a closely fought affair that showed the premiership credentials of both sides.
Both sides felt each other out in the early stages before the encounter turned into a topsy-turvy affair. Ben Hooke started strongly up forward in what was an enticing duel with Mathew Gleeson.
The Saints took full advantage of the Kangaroos' low ruck stocks as Jack Gillingham and Mark Couzens saw plenty of the ball. Brad Giri stood up for the away side, as did Darren Funston in a utility role.
A six-goal second quarter gave the Saints the momentum leading into half-time. Daniel Cullen and Daniel Pritchard were superb off half-back, nullifying the 'Roos developing forward line. Opposition half-forward, Ryan Turner was a tower of strength and proved to be a lone hand up forward.
The Saints' lead was cut to one goal at three quarter time, before the experience and run of the Sawtell side came to the fore to finish comfortable winners in an enticing contest.

Grafton have bounced back from a heavy first-up defeat to surprise the Coffs Swans at Ellem Oval.
It proved to be an important win at home for the Tigers as they led from start to finish against the Swans who are the only winless team after the opening two rounds.
Dale Beaver was at his menacing best, and found some helpful allies in Justin Darby and Grahame Blackwell. The Tigers, courtesy of a equal distribution of goal kickers, put out a better four-quarter performance this week after their erratic performance last week.
It was another tight loss for the Swans. Playing-coach Kris Rundell was the best for the Swans, and David Box was again strong for the travelling side. It will not get any easier for the red and whites as they face the in-form Saints next weekend.

In one of the biggest surprises in recent years, the Nambucca Valley Lions have upstaged last year's Preliminary Finallists, Port Macquarie away from home.
The signs looked good early for the Magpies as they raced to a four goal lead at quarter time, only for the Lions to bounce back at half-time and take the lead by the end of the third quarter. It was a lead they would not relinquish by the end of the match.
The Lions forward-line functioned well with Aaron Boatfield lending able support to coach, Ray McGrath, kicking four goals.
Aaron Clarke and Jimmy Angel were strong for the Lions as they celebrated their second win in nearly two seasons.
