The minor prermiers in all three grades of CHBA women's competitions added to their list of achievements in the Greenhouse Tavern winter competition by adding "grand final winners" to their "minor premiers" tag.

Hoops I Did it, Cooee and Inspirations were crowned the A grade, B grade and C grade women's Champions last night after the finals of the Greenhouse Tavern Women's competition.

CHBA Board Member, and head of the Competitions Committee, Rob Hoy was on hand to make presentations when the dust settled on the
Winter 2014 Greenhouse Tavern (GHT) ladies basketball competitions. Shane Cass from the GHT was also present to assist with the presentations.

Hoops I Did It, capped their domination of the A grade women's competition by accounting for Focus Magazine in a 52 to 26 final scoreline which never looked as convincing as the final score indicated.
Both sides entered this game with no substitutes and with 4
eight minute fully timed quarters ahead of them, the girls were certainly confronted with a fitness challenge.
The shot clock
exprired on both teams on a couple of occasions - an indication of the defensive pressure and no doubt some tired legs.

As she had
done all season, Ellie Hewitt made a significant contribution to the winners scoreline, finishing the game with 16 points scored from behind the arc, inside the paint and off the fast break.
Jane Shaw and Cristi Juffermans helped the scoreboard tick over for Hoops with 14 points and 8 points respectively.
For Focus Magazine Jess Bailey scored 12 points but it was the failure of the other players to reach double figures which probably robbed them of any chance of victory.

At the presentation ceremony at the Greenhouse Tavern after the game Jasmine Host from the Hoops team was named the MVP for the final.

In B grade women, competition front runners, Cooee were once again too strong for Hoop There It Is when they ran up a 45 to 28 scoreline.
Our scorers in this game had some issues with the scoresheet so we are not able to identify all of the pointscorers in
the game, but Kristy Goodman of Cooee certainly dominated when socrers began to be recorded and for her efforts was awarded the MVP for this grade.

The C grade women's final proved to be a match-up between minor premiers Inspirations and third placed Allstars.
Inspirations kept
their undefeated record through this competition intact with a 23 to 12 defeat of the "Stars".
Lauren Steel of Inspirations was
judged the MVP of this final - her contribution of 14 points to the final scoreline was no doubt a factor in the decision.
Nicole
Parmenter lead the scporing for Allstars.

A healthy crowd of players and their supporters retired to the Greenhouse Tavern after the finals for the presentation of awards to
winners, runners-up and MVP.

In making the presentations, General Manager Steve Smith thanked the referees who officiated through the competition, some of whom were present at the Greenhouse, for assisting in the smooth conduct of the competition.

The efforts of Competition Supervisors Georgie Hewitt and Vicki Robertson were also acknowledged.

CHBA will be back with the start of the women's competition from February 3rd next year and we'll be looking to make it bigger and better than the season we have just finished.

Enjoy the break, have a safe Christmas and festive season and we look forward to welcoming you back in season 2015.
