Suns State League Women to rebound in 2015

The Suns women, who won the State League banner this year, their third ttile in four years will get a chance to defend their title in 2015 after the Association recently completed their competition entry.

Shortly the Suns women will make an exciting announcement about a major 'naming rights sponsor' who have made a 2015 campaign viable.

The 2015 State League competition will not get underway until at least March of next year so it is likely that the Suns squad will assemble towards the end of January next year to commence their preparations.

Title winning coach Connie Woods and inspirational player Bonnie Kuchel have been tireless in their efforts to ensure that the continuity of the State League Women's program is not broken.

While the composition of the team is far from finalised, the recent return to town of some prominent former Suns and the rumoured arrival of others has given the working committee confidence that a competitive team can be assembled.  The team and the association have agreeed that the 2015 campaign will be waged without the services of an import player.

Working Committee members Connie and Bonnie are passionate about providing an elite and aspirational program for our young Suns players who have been a force in North Coast and NSW basketball for many years.

The association asked the State League working committee to ensure that they were able to meet a number of rigorous criteria relating to playing personnel, coaching staff, financial support and supply of referees to meet our competition requirements.  To the great credit of the women's program, all criteria have been satisfied.

The Association is pleased to be able to endorse an entry into the 2015 competition and give the team the chance it deserves to defend its title.

In related news, there has not been a similar level of interest and committment from the men's program so that when the deadline for entry arrived, a decision was made not to enter a 2015 State League Men's team.
