Are you a CHBA Future Star??

The trials will be held on Wednesday 23rd July and Wednesday 30th July, with the players selected starting the program on Wednesday 5th July. 

Trials will be run from 4.30pm to 6pm both weeks and will cost $5 per child per week. Head coach Laurie Van Loo, along with US Import players Jerard Ajam and Ashley Buis and other CHBA representative coaches will be running the trials and making the selections of 15 boys and 15 girls to take part in the program.

Aims of the Program

To identify and offer a select number of talented boys and girls an opportunity to be taught advanced basketball skill in a positive learning environment in preparation for a Junior Representative Basketball playing career.

Participation in the Future Stars program does not necessarily guarantee selection in the future Coffs Harbour Suns Junior Representative Basketball teams.

Selection Criteria

Selected Future Stars players will demonstrate skills in the vital areas of attitude, athleticism, determination, work ethic and perceived ability to be coached to a higher level.

Future Stars Program content

Individual and team coaching will follow established BasketballAustralia and Basketball NSW player teaching guidelines

Coaching and Management Staff

The CHBA Future Stars program will be supervised by CHBA representative coaches, with U14 Women's coach, Laurie Van Loo overseeing the program as head coach, with assistance from other coaches on the CHBA coaching committee. The Future Stars program is an ideal environment for parent coaches to learn to art of skills coaching, and parents of Future Star players are invited to indicate their interest to Carlee in the CHBA office in working in the program. Of course, all coaching staff will be required to sign the Working with Children Child Protection Declarations

A female Manager will be in attendance at each practice.

Individual Commitment

As this is the first step on the CHBA representative ladder, strict codes of behaviour will be enforced. Players and their family must make a commitment to attend all trainings, and to advise in advance should they be unable to attend.

The highest standard of behaviour and work ethic will be required by the participants. Failure to meet the standards of behaviour and work ethic could result in the removal of the player from the program.

Parent Involvement

Future Stars training sessions are open with parents to attend as coaches or spectators

Training Uniforms

Participants will be given a Future Stars reversible training singlet, which they will wear at each session with their own plain black shorts. 

Cost

The program, over 7 weeks will cost $85.00. This will include the reversible singlet, a basketball and 7 weeks of coaching

When

Wednesday afternoons, 4.30pm to 6pm on Court 4 at Sportz Central, starting Wed 6thAugust, finishing Wed 17thSeptember.
