Successful Start to new High School and Primary School Seasons,

CHBA's Winter High School and Primary School competitions had a big and successful first week last Friday and Saturday at Sportz Central.

Close to 500 boys and girls had great fun thanks to a "Blitz" formula, which saw them playing several shortened games instead of their normal one competition match.

With the first week back there were registrations and competition fees to pay, but thanks to a huge effort from some helpful mums and dads we were also able to manage that process almost without a hiccup.

Thanks to our helpers for making it a relatively painless experience for our customers.

It was pleasing that we were able on both competition days, to cover all of our games with two badged referees, and while you've come to expect that, I can assure you that it does not happen in other associations.

It was very pleasing to see so many parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters here on both days of competition. Our players love performing in front of a crowd and if they forgot to thank you for coming, let me do so on their behalf.

Our Primary School and High School competitions would not happen without mums, dads, brothers, sisters, teachers and others, willing to look after teams and manage/coach them. We thank you for your contribution to the success of our competitions.

A reminder to parents and players in both our High School and Primary Competitions that we have decided on a "competition fee" system of payment. That fee is $160 for High School players and $130 for Primary School players. You will get 17 weeks of competition plus the semis and finals if you make it that far, in return for your competition fee - so we think we are providing good value for money. If you missed paying your competition fee last Friday or Saturday, you have until Saturday 9th August to make that payment. You can make that payment by visiting the CHBA office, Tuesday to Friday 9.00 am to 6.00 pm or using the online payment option on our website.

We thank you in anticipation of your help with this.

CHBA will prepare a week by week compettion schedule for both the Primary and High School competitions until the payment deadline is achieved, so we can be sure all of the teams who take part in the competition are "stayers".

Primary and High School basketball players in CHBA competitions had a weekend of fun, fitness and social mixing in a safe and inclusive atmosphere at Sportz Central last weekend and this, more than who won and who lost, is something we can all be proud of. I hope the rest of our competition season continues in the same way.

We look forward to welcoming you back this week to Sportz Central this Friday and Saturday and encourage you to "Enjoy your Game!"
