Vale Chris Simpson - 15 years supporting CHBA

The life of Coffs Basketball's longest sponsor, Chris Simpson, will be celebrated on Friday 5th February. Through his McDonald's franchise, Chris maintained his sponsorship of our Primary and High School competitions for 15 years.

Chris's support for Coffs Harbour Basketball included cash and in-kind support, and he was always amongst the first local businesses to help when special events were conducted by the Association.

Many thousands of local youngsters have been the beneficiaries of the Chris Simpson support through reduced fees, Sports Awards, meal vouchers and competition trophies. Our junior representative teams proudly wore the McDonald's logo on their playing uniforms for many years.

When the association branched into the State league program he increased his financial support to the association, allocating additional funds to support the senior program.

Visiting NJL teams were provided with free meal vouchers during their weekend stays in Coffs Harbour.

Chris was a regular at the courts, watching his daughters Brooke and Bronte playing for their BDC school teams.

Former President of CHBA Judy Smith said "Chris was generous with sponsorship support for local organisations.  Coffs Harbour Basketball can count itself very fortunate to have had Chris Simpson by our side for so many years.  Our condolences go to his immediate and extended family, and the many friends he has left behind.  He is a man who will be missed by many".
