Sunbury Kangaroos midfielder Dylan Murphy has capped off a fantastic season by being crowned the 2014 Bowen Medallist as the fairest & best player in the Melton Toyota Riddell District Football Netball League.
Goodwin, who polled one vote in the Kangaroos' Round 18 loss to Riddell to defeat Romsey’s Chris Petroro by that margin, was presented with his award in front of over 300 people at the RDFNL's Bowen & Ryan Medal night at Lakeside Banquet & Convention Centre.
Murphy made it a clean sweep of all of the major awards on the night, being named as the rover in the Melton Toyota Team of the Year, taking home the Buffalo award as the best player as adjudged by the goal umpires and was also adjudged the Melton Toyota Player of the Year, which is awarded by the league’s senior coaches.
Riddell’s Lauren Close was the other big winner on the night, capping off a fantastic season by taking home the Ryan Medal, the RDFNL's highest netball honour.
Close, who was named as the goal defence in the Western Water Team of the Year and was named as the Western Water Player of the Year, held off a late charge from Romsey’s Toni Lind to win the award by one vote.
All award winners are listed below, and full vote listings for each football and netball grade will be available on the RDFNL website in the coming days
