The Melton Toyota Riddell District Football & Netball League, in conjunction with award sponsor Dome Security, are pleased to announce the nominations for the Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award for Round 4 of the 2015 RDFNL season.
Steve Turner is a name synonymous with junior football in the north/western metropolitan areas. Steve is a Life Member of the Riddell District FNL who has held many roles within the league, including a stint as Football Operations Manager and on the RDFNL Board. In 2015, Steve once again sits on the RDFNL Board as well as taking up a team manager's role with the Western Jets in the TAC Cup.
The nomination for Round 4 is...
Cameron McRorie (Rupertswood). After starting in the Under 9’s at Rupertswood back in 2006, McRorie’s football has come on in leaps and bounds this year, making both his Senior debut with the Sharks and his TAC Cup debut with the Calder Cannons in 2015. McRorie’s Steve Turner Medal nomination came from his first senior game with Rupertswood, where he booted two goals and was one of Ben Jordan’s better players on the day. McRorie also represented the RDFNL in its Under 19 interleague match against the Nepean FNL.
To be eligible for the Steve Turner Medal, players must be under 23 years of age, and have played less that 15 senior games prior to the start of the 2015 season. Players must have played junior or Under 18.5 football in the RDFNL, and have made themselves available for selection in RDFNL Interleague Programs. The 2014 Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award was won by Jordan Baumgartner from Rockbank.
