The Melton Toyota Riddell District Football & Netball League, in conjunction with award sponsor Dome Security, are pleased to announce the nominations for the Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award for Round 7 of the 2015 RDFNL season.
Steve Turner is a name synonymous with junior football in the north/western metropolitan areas. Steve is a Life Member of the Riddell District FNL who has held many roles within the league, including a stint as Football Operations Manager and on the RDFNL Board. In 2015, Steve once again sits on the RDFNL Board as well as taking up a team manager's role with the Western Jets in the TAC Cup.
The nomination for Round 7 is...
Liam Berry (Rupertswood). Berry made his return to the Rupertswood senior side against Riddell in Round 7 after an eighteen-month absence from senior football at the Sharks, having spent most of 2014 in the Calder Cannons system. Berry made an immediate impact, being named amongst Rupertswood’s better players in their win against the Bombers and has been dynamic with eight goals in Rupertswood’s last four games, including five goals in a best on ground performance against Kilmore in Round 10.
To be eligible for the Steve Turner Medal, players must be under 23 years of age, and have played less than 15 senior games prior to the start of the 2015 season. Players must have played junior or Under 18.5 football in the RDFNL, and have made themselves available for selection in RDFNL Interleague Programs. The 2014 Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award was won by Jordan Baumgartner from Rockbank.
