The Melton Toyota Riddell District Football & Netball League, in conjunction with award sponsor Dome Security, are pleased to announce the nominations for the Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award for Round 15 of the 2016 RDFNL season.
Steve Turner is a name synonymous with junior football in the north/western metropolitan areas. Steve is a Life Member of the Riddell District FNL who has held many roles within the league, including a stint as Football Operations Manager and on the RDFNL Board. In 2016, Steve once again sits on the RDFNL Board.
Round 15 - Tommy Alkemade - Riddell
This explosive left footer with a handy goal sense is enjoying his third season of Senior football. After playing one game in 2014 and nine last year, Tommy has become a house-hold name on the wing at the Bombers this year.
Tommy was recognised for his efforts last week when he kicked three goals in a best on ground performance against Rockbank.
Tommy is still young enough to play Under 18.5s football, enjoying an opportunity to help the team out early in the year.
Tommy has great break neck speed for a player of his size and ability. He kicks with great accuracy and is a fine young member of the red and black.
He impressed as a junior footballer, kicking 30 goals or more in back-to-back seasons.
Tommy played all 16 games this season and kicked 11 goals.
To be eligible for the Steve Turner Medal, players must be under 23 years of age, and have played less than 15 senior games prior to the start of the 2016 season. Players must have played junior or Under 18.5 football in the RDFNL, and have made themselves available for selection in RDFNL Interleague Programs. Macedon's Jason Cooke won the award last year.
