The Melton Toyota Riddell District Football & Netball League, in conjunction with award sponsor Dome Security, are pleased to announce the nomination for the Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award for Round 14 of the 2013 RDFNL season is Damien Korp from the Wallan FNC.
Steve Turner is a name synonymous with junior football in the north/western metropolitan areas. Steve is a Life Member of the Riddell District FNL who has held many roles within the league, including a stint as Football Operations Manager and on the RDFNL Board. In 2013, Steve has returned to the RDFNL Board as well as taking up a team manager's role with the Western Jets in the TAC Cup.
Korp has played in seven senior matches for Wallan in season 2013, being named amongst the best players in their Season Opener game against Melton Centrals and last week's win over Kilmore. Korp, who was one of the stars in Wallan's Under 18.5 side last season, is in his first full year of open-age football, and also played three senior games with the Magpies in 2011.
To be eligible for the Steve Turner Medal, players must be under 23 years of age, and have played less that 15 senior games prior to the start of the 2013 season. Players must have played junior or Under 18.5 football in the RDFNL, and have made themselves available for selection in RDFNL Interleague Programs. The 2012 Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award was won by Kayne Murphy from the Sunbury Kangaroos.
