The Melton Toyota Riddell District Football Netball League is pleased today to officially release its playing fixture for the 2016 RDFNL football and netball seasons.
The 16-round season, which is scheduled to commence on Friday 8th April with a Round 1 split over two weekends, is packed full of highlights, including...
- A staggered Round 1, including night games at Arnold’s Creek Recreation Reserve, Clarke Oval and Romsey Park, over two weekends with the chance for RDFNL fans to witness every senior football and A Grade netball match across the round.
- Night football being played at Eric Boardman Reserve for the first time, with the Sunbury Kangaroos playing their first two home games under lights in Rounds 2 and 4
- A clear break for the Worksafe AFL Victoria Community Championships after Round 5, with the RDFNL set to travel east to take on the Alberton FNL.
- A clear break over the Queen’s Birthday weekend, with no scheduled matches being played.
- Round 13 to be split over two weekends to give clubs some respite heading into finals in a year where there are no weekly byes in the fixture.
- ANZAC Day football to continue at Tony Clarke Reserve in 2016, with Macedon hosting Rupertswood on the ANZAC Day Monday.
- The re-match between 2015 Grand Finalists Romsey and Diggers Rest to be played under lights at the 2015 Grand Final venue, Romsey Park, in Round 3
FInals venues have not been announced as part of this fixture release, and will be announced during the 2016 season closer to the finals.
The RDFNL will again schedule various "Theme Rounds" for the 2016 fixture, which will be announced once the AFL and AFL Goldfields have announced their Theme Round schedules for 2016 in order for the RDFNL to tie in as closely to the AFL and regional themes as possible.
