SUNBURY Kangaroos chalked up another win big win on Saturday, downing Rockbank by 74 points despite some inaccurate kicking on goal.
Playing at Ian Cowie Reserve, the Rams proved no match for the rampaging Kangaroos, who recorded their seventh win from nine matches so far this season in the Riddell District Football League.
The victory was set up in the opening term as the visitors slammed on five goals while holding Rockbank goalless, making for a 35-point gap between the sides by the first change.
The home side managed their only goal of the first half in the second term, but still found themselves 56 points adrift at halftime.
Four goals to two in favour of Sunbury in a lowscoring second half sealed the big win.
Mitchell Streiff was the leading goal-kicker for the Kangaroos with three majors, while Jason King, Matthew Leonard and Lucas Dowson all slotted two.
Shane Bishop, Streiff and Kayne Murphy were the side’s best.
The loss leaves Rockbank in eighth place on the ladder, having lost their past four games, while Sunbury sits in third place.
In other games at the weekend, Brent Tuckey booted five goals as Diggers Rest got over the top of Lancefield by 72 points.
Wallan downed Macedon by 44 points after leading by 64 points at the final change, Melton Centrals had a 1 6 - p o i n t victory over Woodend- Hesket, Riddell thumped Kilmore by 97 points and the league’s leading goal-kicker, Mathew Davidson, kicked a bag of eight as Romsey smashed Broadford by 130 points.
Round 10 of the RDFL this weekend will be highlighted by the clash between top-ofthe-table Diggers Rest and second- placed Romsey at Romsey Park.
