The Macedon Cats went into this game the red hot favourties to win this year’s B grade grand final. They have been the form team all season and would have been the hottest favourites of the day. Someone forgot to tell Romsey that.
Romsey jumped out of the box with a 12 goal to 5 first quarter which set the tone for the rest of the match. This was an extremely high quality game with these two teams being the team to beat all season.
The ascendancy swayed in the second with Romsey going in with only a 2 goal lead into the second half. The Macedon mid court was finding it extremely difficult to get the ball to this years sharp shooter winner, Alex Marks, who was limited to just 12 for the day.
The third quarter saw Romsey’s Tracey Kay leave the court with a recurring calf injury, however, the Redbacks were over to turn the ball over in the mid court and get the ball to Casey Kidd, who was having a marvelous game. Casey’s strenght and accurancy in the goal ring was one of the highlights of the game.
Macedon mounted a last quarter charge, outscoring Romsey 8 goals to 5 om the last quarter. However the Redbacks were able to hold on for a memberable grand final victory by 3 goals.
Romsey’s Casey Kidd was awards Best on Court
