The Melton Toyota Riddell District Football & Netball League, in conjunction with award sponsor Dome Security, are pleased to announce the nominations for the Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award for the first three rounds of the 2013 RDFNL season.
Steve Turner is a name synonymous with junior football in the north/western metropolitan areas. Steve is a Life Member of the Riddell District FNL who has held many roles within the league, including a stint as Football Operations Manager and on the RDFNL Board. In 2013, Steve has returned to the RDFNL Board as well as taking up a team manager's role with the Western Jets in the TAC Cup.
The nominations for the first three rounds of the Steve Turner Medal are...
Round 1 - Rhys Frost (Wallan) - A key forward who impressed with six goals in Wallan's big opening round win against local rivals Kilmore
Round 2 - Todd Podolczak (Rupertswood) - Tood has had a fantastic start to his RDFNL career with Rupertswood. Booted two goals as one of Rupo's best players in their narrow Round 2 loss to Macedon
Round 3 - Ryan Pretty (Sunbury Kangaroos) - A key position player who starred in the Sunbury Kangaroo's Under 18.5 side last year, winning the league goalkicking title. Has kicked 13 goals from three senior games in 2013, including a nine-goal haul against Rockbank on Anzac Day.
Weekly nominations going forward will be added every Tuesday to the "Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun" category under the "Football" tab in the menu at the top of the screen.
To be eligible for the Steve Turner Medal, players must be under 23 years of age, and have played less that 15 senior games prior to the start of the 2013 season. Players must have played junior or Under 18.5 football in the RDFNL, and have made themselves available for selection in RDFNL Interleague Programs. The 2012 Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award was won by Kayne Murphy from the Sunbury Kangaroos.
