The Melton Toyota Riddell District Football & Netball League, in conjunction with award sponsor Dome Security, are pleased to announce the nomination for the Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award for Round 12 of the 2013 RDFNL season is Harley Cameron from the Rockbank FNC.
Steve Turner is a name synonymous with junior football in the north/western metropolitan areas. Steve is a Life Member of the Riddell District FNL who has held many roles within the league, including a stint as Football Operations Manager and on the RDFNL Board. In 2013, Steve has returned to the RDFNL Board as well as taking up a team manager's role with the Western Jets in the TAC Cup.
Cameron has played in Rockbank's last six senior games after playing the first five games of the 2013 season in the Rams' Reserves side. Cameron, who last played senior football in 2011 whilst still eligible for Under 18.5 football, has been named in Rockbank's best players in each of the last three weeks, including a crucial role in the Rams' narrow Round 10 loss to Romsey and starring performances in each of Rockbank's wins over the last fortnight.
To be eligible for the Steve Turner Medal, players must be under 23 years of age, and have played less that 15 senior games prior to the start of the 2013 season. Players must have played junior or Under 18.5 football in the RDFNL, and have made themselves available for selection in RDFNL Interleague Programs. The 2012 Steve Turner Medal - RDFNL Dome Rising Gun Award was won by Kayne Murphy from the Sunbury Kangaroos.
