AFL Goldfields is pleased to announce the appointment of Grant McMillan as the new AFL Goldfields Football Development Manager (FDM) servicing the Riddell District FNL and its member clubs.
Grant will commence with AFL Goldfields on Monday 31st August 2015, and will initially be based at RDFNL House in Sunbury, and will then relocate to Arnolds Creek when the new RDFNL Offices open in October 2015.
Grant will be servicing the Outer North / Western Region (which is effectively the RDFL geographic area), and amongst his key areas of responsibilities will include the promotion and growth of community football within the RDFNL and its member Clubs, along with Bacchus Marsh. Further, Grant will oversee a number of critical AFL game development programs such as Auskick, school football, diversity, etc. across this region.
Grant is currently studying an Advanced Diploma of Management, and joins AFL Goldfields after 27 years in various corporate positions with the Commonwealth Bank, AXA and the Victorian Government (Dept of Sustainability). Grant has a strong history in project management, organisation improvement, stakeholder management and business development.
Grant has a strong football background, and is a former player with the Footscray FC (Under 19s), and both the Melton South FC and Darley FC. Grant is also a former RDFL representative player, and at Club level has served as a senior Assistant Coach, Football Manager and Committee Member. Grant is also well known across the Ballarat FNL after being heavily involved in the Ballarat FNL senior representative program for a number of years as Assistant Coach, Selector and Runner.
Grant will make contact with each RDFNL Club shortly after his commencement to introduce himself, and he will attend upcoming Senior and Junior Club Presidents meetings to meet Club Presidents personally.
We are very excited to have someone of Grant’s credentials join the AFL Goldfields team, and we look forward to seeing Grant work closely with our current FDM’s Brett Anderson and Tim Shearer for the growth and sustainability of AFL across the AFL Goldfields Region.
