SELDOM has Jake Lever felt out of place during the first year of his burgeoning AFL career.
The emerging Adelaide defender’s impressive debut season was recognised with an AFL Rising Star nomination in Round 17, just reward for the former Calder Cannon after a dominant display against Gold Coast.
The 19-year-old gathered 24 possessions and reeled in 10 marks as Adelaide triumphed by 45 points.
The Crows were confident they had snapped up one of the bargains of last year’s draft when the Romsey junior slipped through to their first-round selection, No. 14.
Lever has done little to disprove that theory in 2015, adapting to the top level with aplomb.
“Last year I thought I was pretty professional and I did the recovery techniques that I thought were necessary,” Lever said.
