Len Pye’s individual brilliance helped lift football at North Hobart to its highest point in the desperate 1930s. He dominated football in Southern Tasmania for more than a decade and had a highly successful year with Fitzroy at the height of the Great Depression.
Noel Atkins was a highly regarded educator who enjoyed a long and successful football career as a player, coach and administrator throughout Tasmania. One memorable highlight of his contribution, which endured over 60 seasons, was being the first person to be selected to play for all three Tasmanian football regions in the intrastate series of games that were highly regarded in the post Second World War era as a pathway to selection in Tasmanian representative teams.
The new Legends will be officially elevated to Legend status on the 6th July at the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame gala function.
Tasmania’s new Icons for 2012 will also be announced at the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame gala function.
