AFL Tasmania successfully conducted the eighth gala induction function of the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame at Wrest Point Casino in Hobart tonight with the highlight of the evening being the announcement of the eleventh and twelfth ‘Icons’ of Tasmanian football.
This year’s Icons are Bruce Carter and Brent Crosswell.
They now join Rodney Eade (elevated 2011), Alastair Lynch (elevated in 2010), Terry Cashion (elevated in 2009), Arthur Hodgson (elevated in 2008), Roy Cazaly (elevated in 2007); Ian Stewart and Royce Hart (elevated in 2006) and our inaugural ‘Icons’ Horrie Gorringe, Darrel Baldock and Peter Hudson in the Hall of Fame.
A further feature of the evening was the elevation of two new Legends, Len 'Apples' Pye and Noel Atkins. The two legends have made significant contributions to Tasmanian football at home and on the national scene.

Finally, the announcement of the two new Icons of Tasmanian football was supported by Tasmania's leading brewer Cascade, who have produced a commemorative label featuring the career and image of Bruce Carter and Brent Crosswell. The Cascade Brewery General Manager - Sales & Marketing, Dominic Bury, said Cascade was delighted to honour Bruce Carter and Brent Crosswell for their incredible contributions to football in our great state.
"It's fitting for Cascade to recognise the endurance, quality and brilliance of Bruce and Brent’s respective contributions to football. Cascade aims for the same qualities - integrity and endurance, having been a Tasmanian favourite since the 1830s," said Mr Bury.
Commemorative Cascade Draught stubbies were provided to guests on the night and have become an immediate collector’s item.
