STAR midfielder Ken Hall has taken the lead in the Bartercard-McDonald's VFL Player of the Year award.
The long-kicking Hall received the top vote of five for his busy game in last Saturday's 18-point loss to the Carlton-aligned Northern Bullants at Devonport Oval.
He is on 31 votes, one ahead of fellow onballer Ian Callinan and two clear of key defender Mathew Jovanovic.
The winner at the end of the season will receive $1000 plus a 120cm rear-projection television set valued at $4000.
