The President of the North Hobart Football Club (NHFC), Mr John Leedham, announced today that Melbourne Football Club legend Robert Flower is in Hobart as guest speaker at the club's President's Dinner to be held this evening at Laetare Gardens.
Mr Leedham said that Flower played a club record of 272 games for Melbourne between 1973 and 1987 kicking 315 goals and won the club's goal kicking award on 3 occasions. He was captain of Melbourne from 1981 till his retirement in 1987. Flower won the Melbourne best and fairest award in 1977, represented Victoria on 15 occasions including being captain in 1982 and 1983. In addition he was an all Australian in 1980 and 1983.
