The President of the North Hobart Football Club, Mr John Leedham, announced today that utility Leigh Taylor has won the George Miller Medal and the Lord Mayor's Trophy for the club senior best and fairest player for season 2005 with 79 votes.
Taylor, 23 years, 185 cms 84 kg, who played mainly on the wing or half forward, returned to the club this year. He was originally recruited to North Hobart in 1999 from Triabunna. He was also a member of the Tassie Mariners in 2000.
Taylor also won the North Hobart Tridents Award as the Players Player of the Season. This award is voted by the players.
Runner up for the best and fairest award was captain/coach Brendon Bolton with 78 votes. Bolton won the Patrons trophy donated by Hank Petrusma. Utility player Kurt Heazlewood, who played a number of games for the Tassie Devils, was 3rd with 68 votes.
