Today at North Hobart Oval AFL Tasmania announced that Sam Isles had been drafted to the Collingwood Football Club, picked as number 2 in the pre season draft.
Following the pre season draft, Todd Grima and Angus Graham were rookied to Geelong Football Club and Richmond Football Club respectively.
Head coach of the Wrest Point Tasmanian Devils, Mathew Armstrong said " It is an outstanding achievement for the young man. He was extremely unlucky not to be selected in the National draft held in November. It now presents him with an opportunity to play AFL Football."
Scott Wade, General Manager of AFL Tasmania said "It's a fantastic result to have six players drafted to the AFL system. Not too many years ago Tasmania was battling to get one player drafted and over the past three seasons 15 players have been drafted, compared to 5 in the three years prior to that.
The result is a testament to the hard work put in by the State Head Caoch Mathew Armstrong and State Development coaches Hamish Ogilvie and Nick Probert."
Two other Tasmanians selected today were:
Cameron Thurley, drafted to the Kangaroos
Tom Davidson, rookied to Western Bulldogs
