The Wrest Point Tasmanian Devils will be hosting some international visitors this Saturday night when a French documentary film crew attend the Tasmanian Devils versus Coburg Tigers game at Aurora Stadium.
The French visitors are from TF3 the French state television station (similar to ABC or SBS), which specialises in documentaries, and they are from the program Thalassa meaning sea in Greek.
The Thalassa program dates from the 1970s and has a large and very loyal following in Europe and elsewhere (probably inspired by Jacques Cousteau type enthusiasms). The program focuses on the sea and boating and associated communities.
The two French journalists are Antoine Mora and Juliette Lambot. They are accompanied by three support crew and Moira Nolan who is their local French speaking tour guide/facilitator. The two journalists speak excellent English.
In Tasmania the Thalassa film crew will be filming a background piece, which links the elements of the broader program about aspects of Tasmanian marine communities. They will be visiting natural / historical sites, seeing Tasmania's beauty, and they are interested in Tasmanians, and what they like doing, including playing and watching Australian football!
The Thalassa television program featuring Tasmania will be aired on SBS later this year.
Tasmanian media who are interested in undertaking an interview with the French visitors at Saturday nights Tasmanian Devils football game (from 4pm) should contact their translator, Moria Nolan, or AFL Tasmania's Assistant General Manager, Daniel Smedley, to co-ordinate a suitable time for an interview.
