Scott and Brendon are not only experienced, high quality and very well respected "AFL football people"; both gentlemen possess strong business acumen and have a genuine passion for the game of Australian Football.
Attached to this media release are the brief personal profiles of both Scott Clayton and Brendon Gale.
Chairman of AFL Tasmania, Dominic Baker, said:
"Today's official announcement of Scott Clayton and Brendon Gale being appointed as Directors of the Board of AFL Tasmania is an enormous boost for Tasmanian Football.
The addition of Scott and Brendon completes what we believe is a Board of Directors of AFL Tasmania that would rival any State Governing Football Body in the nation.
Since the establishment of AFL Tasmania just prior to the 1999 football season, AFL Tasmania has never had a team of Directors that is so in touch and connected with the Tasmanian business and football communities and the AFL national football system.
Scott and Brendon will provide AFL Tasmania with high level football expertise and both have a very significant connection to key people within the AFL national football system.
I also believe that the addition of Scott Clayton and Brendon Gale to the Board of AFL Tasmania is a strong endorsement that Tasmanian football is heading in the right direction."
In early February 2007 at AFL Tasmania's Annual General Meeting, the members of AFL Tasmania, i.e. the AFL, SFL, NTFL and NTFA, endorsed an extension to the Board from the previous number of five volunteer Directors to seven.
The current Board of AFL Tasmania is:
- Dominic Baker (acting Chairman)
At the above mentioned Annual General Meeting the immediate past Chairman of AFL Tasmania, David Templeton, retired as a Director leaving one position as a Director of AFL Tasmania to still be appointed.
