Dear Co-ordinators / Volunteers,
I wanted to take this opportunity, on behalf of the AFL and the wider football community, to personally thank AFL Auskick Co-ordinators and all the AFL Auskick volunteers for your efforts in helping almost 160,000 children across Australia experience the benefits of the NAB AFL Auskick program.
With the football season quickly drawing to a close, I have been reflecting on the magnificent work of our AFL Auskick coordinators and the thousands of volunteers who are the lifeblood of this program.
We have 61,000 volunteers who each year help to bring football to people at an AFL, state, community and NAB AFL Auskick level as well as helping to extend Australian Football into schools and communities right across the country.
The Australian Football community is justifiably proud of its volunteers. We are grateful and thankful that all our NAB AFL Auskick volunteers have stepped forward to take an active part in an activity that brings so much joy to so many boys and girls across the country.
Without the assistance, passion and enthusiasm of volunteers, football across the country would grind to an immediate halt.
With the support of our NAB AFL Auskick volunteers, our development officers, state leagues, schools and - particularly - our centre coordinators:
* 158,000 boys and girls and their families have participated in the NAB AFL Auskick program in 2007.
* 2,700 NAB AFL Auskick centres have run programs across Australia.
* More than 23,000 children have taken part in NAB AFL Auskick activities at half-time of AFL Toyota premiership season matches.
* 55,000 tickets have been allocated to NAB AFL Auskick centres so that parents can watch their children participate at half-time.
More importantly it has resulted in tens of thousands of children having a great time with their friends and family in a quality environment where they get physically active, learn new skills and, hopefully, develop a life-long love of Australian Football, our indigenous game.
Thank you again for all you have done for Australian Football and please pass onto all of the parents and volunteers at your centre the sincere thanks of myself and all of us at the AFL for their support and involvement.
Yours sincerely,
ANDREW DEMETRIOU
Chief Executive Officer
