AFL Tasmania and the NTJFA are pleased to announce the grand final schedule and introduce the teams for the MBF NTJFA Grand Finals that will be conducted at Aurora Stadium on Sunday 9th September 2007.
The MBF Northern Tasmanian Junior Football Association is now in it's 33rd season of competition and this year has over 1400 participants. The NTJFA commenced in 1975 with 12 teams in U11 and U13 age divisions. This season the competition has grown again to 58 teams competing in 5 age divisions.
The Grand Finals will be conducted for the U12, 13, 14 & 16 age groups. As well, the expanded U9 and U11 modified football competition will conduct a gala involving all 24 teams that competed in that age division in 2007.
The NTJFA has provided an introduction to football for many thousands of players, coaches and administrators over 33 years. Some of the more well known players who commenced their football in the NTJFA include VFL/AFL stars: Michael Roach, Doug Barwick, David Grant, Brad Green, Trent Bartlett, Ben Beams, Sam Lonergan and most recently Mitch Thorp. As well, many of this year's state U18 and U16 players commenced in the NTJFA including: Tom Bellchambers, Thomas Salter and Braden McGee who are all playing senior NTFL football.
NTJFA Chairperson, Peter Krushka, stated:
The MBF NTJFA's 33rd season has been highlighted by the contribution of parents and volunteers. This has been crucial to the smooth conduct of the competition and without whom it would not be possible to provide the 1400 young players with their first football experience. The support of major sponsors MBF, RACT and National Pies must also be acknowledged.
AFL Tasmania Competition Manager, Shaun Young, said:
The MBF NTJFA is undoubtedly the most successful junior / youth community based competition in Tasmania. It is tremendous to see the NTJFA celebrating it's 33rd anniversary providing positive opportunities for our youth. Many more senior sporting organistations would love to be able to boast the fine record of growth, lifelong participation and talent development that the MBF NTJFA can.
The NTJFA competition is sponsored by major Australian personal and family medical insurer - MBF. The partnership provides over $6,000 in cash and in-kind support to the NTJFA. Tasmanian organizations - RACT and National Pies - are also major support partners.
