The Gold Coast SUNS Academy seeks applicants for their Regional Development Coach. This position is responsible for junior development within Cairns in conjunction with AFL Cairns and AFL Queensland.
The positions responsibilities are detailed below:
- Oversee Regional Summer development program
- Mentor and manage High Performance Academy group within region
- Identify first choice rookies within region
- Deliver agreed development programs, including specialist skill coaching programs
- Coach and review players in accordance with the established Academy curriculum
- Conduct evaluation and appraisal / feedback processes for Academy players
- Regular reporting on region and Academy players to SUNS Head Coach
- Embed holistic player development
- Monitor and advise players re: player welfare and life balance around optimising education opportunities, personal health and football performance
- Maintain the image of the Gold Coast Football Club and the AFL at all time
- Potential travel to Gold Coast for games and professional development
Key selection Criteria
- Demonstrated experience in talent development and management
- Coaching experience in Australian Football
- Good understanding of league and club network in Cairns and North Queensland
- Level 2 Coaching accreditation (or completing in first year of contract)
- Demonstrated personal initiative and ability to work effectively unsupervised
- Well developed interpersonal and presentation skills
- Sound knowledge of the AFL talent pathway
- Willingness to work outside normal working hours and on weekends including travel
