Mrs Munro said the main reason was to keep their children healthy, but there were also social benefits.
“I think getting involved in sport is really important because it means that they’re active and they’re healthy,” she said.
“Hopefully it would mean that they’re out there with their friends and eating well.
“Both Michael and I work so that makes it very tricky. But we schedule our hours around the kids’ sport because I think it’s really important.”
She said an initiative to encourage more children to become involved in organised sport should be encouraged.
Connor Munro plays for the Swans U13 AFL team and said he enjoyed the sport because it kept him healthy and active.
“I like the team that I play for and the coaches that teach me,” he said. “It’s a lot more fun to be active and healthy.”
William, 8, also plays AFL while Abby, 6, has just started playing hockey.
