The difference in budgets, membership base or skill level could not be more stark, but Pyramid Power and Port Adelaide Power have more in common than just their playing guernsey.
The two Aussie rules clubs will share a special bond from now on, the AFL giant becoming the Gordonvale junior club's 100th affiliation under the Brothers Club Project, which originated in the southern corridor two years ago.
What started as a small group of clubs who commenced sending messages of support has now grown to include teams from almost 40 countries across the world.
Since then Pyramid Power has received assistance with scholarships for their players for this year and many football jumpers from brother clubs across the world which will feature on the walls of their club rooms when built.
Club president Wesley Hull said their players have also benefited from messages of support before finals matches in the past two seasons, with the kids in awe of the fact that people from clubs across the world know of their feats.
In return, Pyramid Power have sent equipment to clubs in Fiji, Canada, and Papua New Guinea, as well as sending documents and expertise to clubs in England, Ireland, Scotland and Canada to help develop school and junior programs overseas.
"This extraordinary gesture sees the tiny idea from a tiny club in north Queensland reach an unprecedented level of acknowledgement and acceptance from one of the biggest clubs in the world of Australian Rules Football," he said.
"In a world thas is sometimes driven by issues more financially viable than friendships, it is refreshing to see a junior football club prepared to follow old-fashioned conventions and simply value friends."
