Bulldogs assistant coach Jason Roe is "spewing" his side didn't get a crack at North Cairns last weekend when cyclone Ita rolled into town.
But they will get another chance to prove themselves when they travel to Fretwell Park this Saturday to front South Cairns Cutters.
Roe was head coach at Cairns City Lions before falling out with the club midway through last season.
He is acting as a skills coach under head mentor Peter Seymour, while Ovens and Murray Football League recruit Brian Durbridge completes their staff as a playing-assistanc coach.
"I'm really enjoying it; Steak (Seymour) does the motivational stuff and I just focus on the skills and Brian has really impressed too," he said.
"We have good numbers and depth; there are plenty of good players at the club.
"I'm spewing we didn't get a crack at Norths last week, but (Preseason Cup champions) Souths look like testing material."
