A 13-goal haul from Paul Smith has set him on track for triple figures, a feat that South Cairns members believe would be the first in their club's long history.
The recruit was running hot again on Saturday as they routed a young Bulldogs team 32.22 (214) to 3.7 (25) and now has 89 majors with two home and away fixtures remaining.
Player-coach Daniel Lock, a long-time fixture at the club, is currently scouring the records to see if any Cutter has notched the milestone since their inception in 1956. "So far we haven't found one and nobody can recall it happening," he said.
"I'm backing Paul in to get there; I think I'm more excited by it than him though."
But after the drubbing, Lock had some kind words for his rivals.
"I told them to keep at it, not give it away because those results only make you a better player," he said.
"I've been there myself with Cutters and you've just got to keep fronting up and show character."
