Spearhead Smith overcomes shaky start to reach 100 goals.
A 100-goal haul and a minor premiership made it a day to remember for South Cairns Cutters, but a potentially serious injury to club favourite Billy English meant it wasn't all good news.
English, one of the best players in the competition, could miss the finls series after leaving the field in the third quarter with a hamstring injury.
While considered serious enough to end his campaign, it couldn't sour the celebrations after Paul Smith made club history and became the first Cutter to kick 100 goals in a season.
Needing four to notch the century the big full forward started nervously.
Smith spilt some easy marks and kicked just one in the first quarter at Cazalys against Manunda.
He turned it on in the second quarter though, booting four majors to reach and pass the milestone.
He finished with eight in a 14.16 (100) to 4.7 (31) victory that cemented top spot.
"It was a pretty special moment, he was a bit jittery early but the boys were willing him on," player-coach Daniel Lock said.
"Manunda had plenty behind the ball to make him work for it.
"And now he's done it hopefully the best is yet to come."
Lock hopes English will be back for the finals series, his side afforded the bye in the final round this weekend.
They are set to play Saints it the major semi-final, a team accustomed to getting it done in September at Cazalys.
"Minor premiership is great, but now the serious stuff starts," Lock said.
"It means absolutely nothing if we don't go on with it."
Saints' defeat of Port Douglas handed them second in front of the Crocs, while Cairns City Lions beat Centrals Trinity Beach 19.19 (133) to 9.13 (67).
