Their clash with Centrals following this weekends bye now shapes as a poignant one given Centrals dip in form and the Lions apparent rise on the weekend. Following a 19-.6 (130) to 4.4 (28) loss to table topping Port Douglas on Saturday, the bulldogs have slipped to fourth. Behind them, two games back, sit the Lions.
With a number of players returning from injury on the weekend and a week off before their next game, Tootells men are past the worst of their troubles that saw them drop off the pace after an optimistic opening few rounds. "We had 12 in from last week's side and there is a bit of depth there again," Tootell said. "Unfortunately not all of them can play every week, but that sort of side on the paddock means we will be very competitive for the rest of the season."
Centrals are struggling with injuries of their own and dont think Tootell isnt eyeing them off. "They are kind of in the position we were in for the last six or eight weeks," he said. "Weve got a bit of work to do (to catch them) but thatll be a big game for us."
