AFL Cairns’ summer development training program has got off to a sizzling start in more ways than one. It’s not just the weather that’s hot, the player turnout has reached over 100 and the program has a new sponsor – Pacific Toyota
Now known as the Pacific Toyota Cairns AFL Talent Program, the annual training regime is designed for AFL Cairns Youth Players who have aspirations of playing representative football or simply want to improve their own football skills and fitness.
AFL Cairns Football Operations Manager, Sean Hunter said, “During training we will be concentrating on AFL skills, game sense, running and strength development, all key areas for today’s footballers. Our program will focus on encouraging players to be the best they can!”
The program is not just for the region’s best players but for boys and girls who want to improve their game and get even more enjoyment from their participation.
“Having a new partnership with Pacific Toyota is fantastic support of our youth age summer program. Toyota is a great supporter of AFL nationally and to have the local dealership supporting the local junior competition helps us provide a great off-season activity that promotes fitness and skills for our kids. It certainly keeps them active, away from the TV and gives them the opportunity to mix with other positive kids from across Cairns,” said Mr Hunter.
The Pacific Toyota Cairns Talent Program is for players born between 1998 and 2003 (turning 13 in 2016). Training is held on Monday and Wednesday nights from 4pm until 6pm. Until Wed 16th December it is held at Watsons Oval, McNamara St, North Cairns and from Monday 18th January 2016 at Cazalys Stadium.
