BITS VS GLENMORE
The top of the table clash failed to live up to the hype, with the Saints demolishing the young Glenmore team. Glenmore went into the clash quietly confident and up until half time was still in the contest, however the Saints asserted their dominance in the 3rd and 4th quarters kicking 16 goals to 9.
Once again it was the Saints star-studded midfield that provided plenty of quality ball to their forwards, allowing John Beirouti to kick another 10 goals. Just in the last 3 games 'The Animal' has kicked 46 goals and is well on the way to kicking 100 goals this season and perhaps 150. The Saints ability to run out games as proved to be telling so far this year.
Best players for the Bulls included Tyson Payne, Derek Mangan and ever-green Steven Giles. For the Saints Paul Caveny, Adam Dickenson and Nathan Shiphard continued their good form.
Prediction: BITS by 32 points
Result: BITS by 60 points
PANTHERS VS BROTHERS
While the game wasn't pretty a win is a win, so they say. Brothers jumped out of the blocks early and held Panthers goal-less in the 1st quarter, in the 2nd quarter they jumped to a 5 goal lead before Panthers were able to turn the contest into a scrap.
Panthers began to apply pressure to the Brothers players and forced them to make poor decisions and skill errors. By half time Panthers were back into the contest, while Panthers never hit the front throughout the game, if it had not been for inaccurate kicking in front of goals the result could have been a lot different.
Brothers experience backline was able to hold Panthers out in the last quarter and help Brothers to their first win for the year. For Brothers big men Tom Granleese and Lachlan Mckenzie-McHarg were solid, while for Panthers Matt Ryan, Clinton Sutton and Liam Kronk tried hard.
Prediction: Brothers by 43 points
Result: Brothers by 5 points
Scott Smithwick gets a kick away under pressure.
GLADSTONE VS YEPPOON
Yeppoon's big man Wes Hawke celebrated his 200th game in style leading from the front with a 6 goal haul. Gladstone weren't able to contain Yeppoon's quick start, being held goal-less in the first quarter. It was always going to be tough from that point, but to the Mudcrabs credit they never gave up and they out-scored the Swans for the remaining 3 quarters.
Once gain it was the usual doing the damage for Yeppoon (Daniel Watkin, Matt Wallin, Leeland Gribble), while for Gladstone Cameron O'Grady continues to impress with another 5 goal haul, and was well supported by Ricky Windridge and Aiden Hearn. I am sure that Gladstone's coach Jason Chirgwin will be disappointed again with their inability to but in a 4 quarter effort.
Prediction: Yeppoon by 10 points
Result: Yeppoon by 24 points
