A PREMIERSHIP flag would be the icing on the cake of Daniel Hunt's Capricornia Aussie rules season.
After being awarded the Bernie Gottke Medal for A-grade's best and fairest and finishing the regular season with his BITS Saints squad as minor premiers, Hunt was on top of the world.
And his success did not stop there.
Hunt and the Saints took to the field against Yeppoon Swans in the Capricornia Australian Rules A-grade major semi-final at the weekend and walked away victorious with a secure position in the grand final to be played in two weeks time.
The Saints took down Yeppoon convincingly 115-66, a win which Hunt described as satisfying.
"I'm really happy with how we played on the weekend," Hunt said.
"All the boys played really well and after going down to Yeppoon by about 100 points the last time we played them, to beat them by as much as we did was great," he said.
Hunt praised Saints forward Aaron Fabian for his performance up front as well as Jamie Cunningham.
"Aaron Fabian was a real standout in the forward line, he took some great grabs as well as Jamie Cunningham," Hunt said.
Fabian outscored his team mate Luke O'Shea - the league's leading goal-scorer - by six goals to boot eight for BITS.
In the lead-up to the grand final on September 7, Hunt said Saints would be working on fine-tuning their skills to ensure they reached their peak.
With Glenmore set to host the Swans at Stenlake Park in the preliminary final this weekend, Hunt expected an interesting game and said while it would come down to the wire, Yeppoon should take the win.
Hunt said he was honoured to accept the best and fairest award.
"It feels pretty good to win the Bernie Gottke Medal and get my name up there with all the previous winners," Hunt said.
"I wasn't really expecting it, I thought I would come close but I never expected to actually win it," he said.
