DVBA INTRODUCTION TO COACHING CLINIC 2016

DVBA Domestic coaches from all of our clubs, as well as Rep coaches from the Eagles program, are invited to attend an ‘Introduction to Coaching’ clinic on Sunday, February 21st from 11:30-1:00pm at Diamond Valley Sports and Fitness Centre.

Presented by DVBA CEO Ross Wignell, who has had strong influence over both player and coach development in Victoria as a State over the past decade, the session will share teaching points, drills and concepts that are crucial building blocks to player and team development – if coaches are not wanting to skip any steps in cementing good habits in their teams.

If you attended last year’s clinics, which were a hit - there is great reason to attend this one too ! Ross will present some new ideas to our coaches, in particular how to take the next step and connect player skill with team play in different areas of the game.

Ross will cover topics such as ball handling and dribbling, demonstrate how the skill sets fit into offensive transition (commonly known as ‘fast breaks’) and deliver examples in how to teach and get repetitions of these in both the full court and the half court.

The aim being to prepare coaches with the understanding and confidence to teach fundamentals in a sound manner, and give athletes the foundation needed to grow as well-performing Basketballers – whether you have access to a full court, or only have access to a half court in your training environment.

Ross will also look to devote time to Q+As from the coaches – to give you access to his experienced perspective in solving your specific questions regarding improving your Basketball team.

The session is FREE and is a great investment in a coach’s development from a number of different angles. Bring coaches FROM your club, bring the knowledge back TO your club. Let’s all grow the game together.

See you on Sunday, February 21 !
