JAMES PENNY RE-SIGNS !

Yet another long time Eagle will continue his development at the Big V State Championship level – James Penny has re-signed for season 2016.

In his first step up to senior men’s competition in 2015, James averaged 3.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game in limited game time, making the transition from a number of solid seasons in our Victorian Youth Championship Men’s team.

James will have the opportunity to continue his development and acclimate with this next level in season 2016, to establish his identity as a senior basketballer at our club, going forward.

‘James signing for his second season of State Champ Men shows he is willing to continue his progress with Senior basketball – progress he made last season, especially using the ball screen’, Head Coach Alan McAughtry said.

‘He is a selfless Point Guard, am I’m really looking forward to seeing him take another step in his development at that position. James has always been a great DV person, he’s fun to be around and couples that with being a tireless worker. It’s great to have him back.’

DVBA CEO, Ross Wignell adds ‘Another of our junior that went through and graduated from Eagles juniors to Youth League and this past season to the State Championship Men. It’s great to see James continuing to work hard on his game and again earn a position on our Men’s team. James had a solid first year with the Senior group in 2015. His up the court defense and pushing of the ball was a great addition when he came into the game. With further work to be done on his perimeter game in the off season and a more strategic approach offensively, I’m looking forward to James really helping our team in 2016’.

Stay tuned as there is more to come … you won’t want to miss this !
