DV SPIRIT THROUGH AND THROUGH, CRUPI PLAYS FAREWELL GAME

It’s fitting that DVBA domestic product, Meg Crupi is joining St Francis College in Brooklyn. The team’s moniker is the ‘Terriers’ and Meg has been like a dog at a bone, showing persistence and not giving up the fight to progress in her Basketball journey – when many mentally weaker athletes would.

From St Marys, Rosanna East, St Thomas and Eltham North to the Eagles - that’s been the legacy Meg has left at Diamond Valley to date. A passionate competitor. Someone who won’t lay down and give up, no matter the circumstance. She is a bona fide winner. Someone we can all connect to, be motivated by and be proud of.

Through her junior career, Meg has learnt a valuable lesson - to be like bamboo … bend, but don’t break. The resolve that Basketball has grown organically within her is clearly visible to those that get to see her operate at trainings, indies or on game night. She finds a way to stay empowered and keep pressing on. She is well prepared for the next step.

A former DVBA Club Person of the Year, Meg is a giving person around the Association. She has coached in our U12 Girls program, coached at our camps, coached our beginners in the 3pt Program, attended junior rep trainings to help coaches and sometimes taken the court to train with them, she’s made appearances at domestic finals to hand out medals to the next generation of DV athletes … and much, much more.

Meg embodies what it is to be Diamond Valley. Hard working. No frills. No ego. No nonsense. Just compete with your whole heart and soul every time you take the court.

Saturday night, July 30 will mark the last time we will see Meg in an Eagles uniform for some time. It’s not goodbye, though I’m sure tears will be shed. It’s goodbye for now, as Meg will soon board a plane to Brooklyn to take all of her work, dedication and knowledge into the U.S College system with the St Francis Terriers. Diamond Valley blood running through her veins.

It’s a time to be proud and inspired of yet another one of our own taking the next step.

Just a young kid who walked into the stadium on Civic Drive a decade ago with a big smile, big dreams and a basketball in hand, and on Saturday night will walk out a professional, skilled, educated and determined woman with the world ahead of her.

Be there to witness Number 5’s last game prior to College – she is a living example to all of us that persistence pays off.
