CARLI ROSENTHAL ADDS PUNCH TO EAGLES LINE UP

Former St Mary’s Gael, Carli Rosenthal is one of the final signings to our Big V State Championship Women’s team, helping round out the roster for season 2016.

6’3 and a physically strong presence around the basket, Rosenthal was born and bred in Couer d’Alene, Idaho and amassed a stellar high school career in her State, going on to ply her trade with the St Mary’s Gaels in NCAA Division 1 competition (current home of Diamond Valley’s Carly Turner) from 2011 onwards.

A rebounding powerhouse, Rosenthal is ranked 10th all time in St Mary’s history for total rebounds and 3rd all time for offensive rebounds. In her senior year, she started every game and was the team’s leading rebounder in 17 of their 34 contests that season. Rosenthal’s 2015 averages were 6.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game for the Gaels.

I am extremely pleased to have Carli on board with our Lady Eagles for the upcoming season. She is coming off the back of an exceptional 4 year performance with St Mary’s College in California’, SCW Head Coach, Dee Butler said.

‘Carli’s outstanding rebounding ability and defensive aggression will be a perfect fit for our group, and we have no doubt her size and work ethic at both ends of the floor will cause some issues for opposition teams. The fact Carli has played previously with other Aussies, including our very own Carly Turner, will certainly help her fit in well with the group and style of play’.

Rosenthal has also represented Team USA internationally, winning a gold medal at the 2013 Maccabiah Games in Israel where the team went undefeated during the tournament.

I’m personally looking forward to working with Carli to help continue her development, and provide further opportunities for her to build her international basketball resume. Carli comes to us highly recommended, both on and off court, from our fellow Aussies and we can’t wait to have her in Eagles colours soon !

Outgoing Rosenthal is known to be well-liked by her peers and teammates, and was a vocal and positive presence in the locker room during her time at St Marys.

DVBA CEO, Ross Wignell added ‘Carli has shown an ability to be a relied-upon contributor in Division 1 college Basketball and definitely can rebound the ball exceptionally well at that level. At 6’3, she will provide our State Championship Women’s team with a genuine inside presence that will have us as one of the biggest teams in the league. Our interior game will be as good as any, especially when competing against the competition’s best. We believe she will be a seamless fit into the program and it will be great to have her around our club.
