WILMA HAY

Association

Long Time Volunteer & Contributor of the DVBA sadly passes

Diamond Valley Basketball was Wilma’s world, until illness overtook her. Wilma’s connection to the Association began when she started coaching her daughter Nicole who played for Rosanna East.

With Wilma’s generous nature, she became involved with various committees at the DVBA such as the Executive Committee, Junior and Senior Women’s Committee and the Senior Men’s Championship Committee. She was one of four members to start the Monday night CBL men’s competition and was Diamond Valley’s delegate for the C.V.I.B.L, currently known as the Big V Competition.

Wilma regularly travelled with our Senior Championship Teams across the state and would often help out by sitting on the score bench or doing the game stats.

Wilma was a member on the DVBA Tribunal for many years.

Over the past 5 years, Wilma spent a considerable amount of time in and out of hospital until she sadly passed away on the 11th June 2015.

Our deepest sympathy from everyone at the DVBA goes out to Wilma’s family and friends.

Wilma’s funeral will be held in the Le Pine Chapel, 513 Greensborough Rd, Greensborough on Thursday 18th June at 2.30 p.m.

BYE WILMA- WE WILL ALL MISS YOU AT DIAMOND VALLEY

A message from Sarah McDonald- Wilma's granddaughter

Gone but never forgotten:
Wilma Hay
7.06.1945 - 11.06.2015

On Thursday the 11.06.2015 at 9.30am a much loved sister, grandmother, great grandmother and a dear friend peacefully passed away at the Austin hospital in Heidelberg

To those that knew Wilma knew she had 4 great loves of her life: family, friends, Collingwood Football Club but her longest love was Basketball. She was involved within basketball for over 40 years in one way or another. Her passion for the sport was certainly eveident to all that knew her.

Over the years this passion grew and with that so did the people that she met along the way, some developing into life long friends. Throughout the years Wilma began to focus on the senior mens league which lead her to become part of the ABA and VBL. Wilmas passion for the sport and dedication to Diamond Valley brought so much to the basketball association, players and her peers.

One statement that has been said quite often over the past few days is "Wilma is Diamond Valley" and to be honest she was and always will be.
So whether you remember her for her passion, love, laughter or even her little slap on the arm that she would give you when she was talking, I would like to say thank you to each and everyone of you for being part of her life and the person that she was, she loved you all so much. May she remain in your memories and hearts forever
