AJ STEWART DRIVEN TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP AT THE VALLEY

Yet another new addition to our Big V State Championship Women’s team is Melbourne Boomers Development Player, Ashleigh ‘AJ’ Stewart.

AJ joins the Eagles looking for the opportunity to grow and explore who she can become as a player at the next level. Originally out of Western Australia, AJ came through the system in that State as an elite player - competing on W.A Metro State teams with our current Eagle Mikayla Pirini. She moved to Melbourne to attend the Australian College of Basketball, has graduated from that program and spent the past 2 WNBL seasons as a Development Player with the Melbourne Boomers – growing her game to a stage where she earned the right to feature in a number of WNBL games this season off the bench.

No stranger to the Big V, AJ spent last season with the McKinnon Cougars and averaged 8 points and 5 rebounds per game. Coming to the Eagles presents her with a great environment to contribute to on and off the court.

I am pleased to welcome AJ to our Eagles program. AJ has a high work ethic and comes off the back of a development season with Melbourne Boomers WNBL. AJ has an infectious, positive attitude and is an extremely coachable athlete.  Her eagerness to learn is a great fit for the culture of our program and I am pleased to have the opportunity to work with her here at Diamond Valley to help continue her basketball journey’, Head Coach Dee Butler states.

DVBA CEO Ross Wignell adds ‘AJ’s addition to the program is a great fit as she has demonstrated her passion for the game, willingness to learn and develop and aspiration to play at the next level. She has had 2 seasons in the Melbourne Boomers system as a Development Player, which will hold her in good stead fundamentally to be able to present her best in an Eagles uniform with our Women. We look forward to seeing AJ progress her game with us.’

We welcome AJ to the DV Family !
