Our Big V State Championship Men’s point guard, Matt Reynolds has put pen to paper and signed on for the Eagles for season 2016. Matt’s emergence this season showed that he has the tools to compete with the best backcourt players in the league, night in and night out.

‘Re-signing Matty was critical to forming our team for the coming season, and helps stabilize our guard positions as we progress with an eye on the team being in finals in 2016’, Head Coach Alan McAughtry said.

Matt is coming off a season of averaging 10.2 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game and 1.4 assists per game. He achieved a career low in turnovers per game, which is a crucial part of being a great guard in any competition. 

‘This past season was a big learning curve for Matty – he was given the reigns of our on-court leadership and he certainly grew as the season went on – but it might’ve impacted his production a bit in the beginning as he found his way’, McAughtry added, ‘But by the end of the season the thing began to click for him and I’m excited about the steps he will take forward next season’.

‘I’m extremely pleased that we have retained the services our starting point guard and a long-time Diamond Valley Eagle, in Matt Reynolds, for the 2016 season.  We believe his contributions on court will be a very valuable part of the exciting group we are putting together in our State Championship Men’, DVBA CEO Ross Wignell stated.
