EAGLES ADD YOUNG GUN WRAGG !

Melbourne Boomers WNBL Development Player, Courtenay Wragg joins our Big V Basketball State Championship Women for season 2016.

Originally a Sunbury Jet, Courtenay is a fast, agile combo guard who can get to the rim and couples that with elite level on-ball defense. She has multiple years of experience representing Victoria Metro in Australian Junior Championships and this past season played State Championship Women for Bulleen.

Currently a Development Player with the Melbourne Boomers, Courtenay trains with the team 2-3 times per week and has shown an ability to more than hold her own in that environment – establishing her as a potential national league player in years to come. She has already suited up for a number of home games this season as validation for her ability in the present moment.

This past Big V season, Courtenay averaged 5.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Her season high point coming against Eltham where she contributed 9 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals and 1 block in 25 minutes of court time.

‘Courtenay is a dynamic guard who has some scoring punch and a great defensive work ethic. We had a gaping hole after losing our guard rotation of Amy O’Neill, Bridget Mimmo and Katie O’Neill, so I’m excited to have Court on board as she is a perfect fit for our group and fits the culture of Diamond Valley seamlessly’, Head Coach Dee Butler said.

DVBA CEO, Ross Wignell adds ‘Courtenay is developing into a tremendously athletic guard. This ability will be a great asset to our team - making us one of the most athletic teams in the competition. I am hoping that Courtenay will continue to work on her perimeter game over the Summer, which will open her game up at the offensive end.’
