MATTY REY CAPTAINS METRO IN OVERALL WIN

Prolific Big V State Championship Men’s point guard, Matt ‘Matty Rey’ Reynolds captained the Metro Men in the Big V Origin All Star Series held in Shepparton on Saturday night.

Mens and Womens teams were selected based on their metropolitan or country origin, and the battle of city and country was decided on the 2 games on the night.

‘Matty Rey’ was selected as captain and had 11 points, 1 assist and 1 rebound in an 8 point loss to Country, 82-74. Eagles Victorian Youth Championship Men’s guard, Dan Girolami had 2 points, 2 rebounds and an assist for the Metro Men off the bench, whilst Matt’s Eagles teammate Liam ‘Killer’ Killey had 3 points, 9 rebounds and a steal for the Country Men.

However, it was Metro that won the Origin All Star Series on aggregate on the night – thanks to a big win from the Metro Women in their game. The Metro Women controlled the game against Country and ran out 82-69 winners, giving the Metro crew a 5 point aggregate victory overall. Diamond Valley State Championship Women’s athlete Mikalya Pirini lead the Country Women in their loss – contributing 9 points, 4 assists and 1 rebound.
