This week we welcome Ezi Magbegor to our SEABL Womens team for this Sunday's game against Dandenong Rangers, we caught up with Ezi to share her experience at the recent Commonwealth Games representing Australia.

 

What was it like finding out you were selected in your first Opals team?

Finding out that i was selected for the Opals team is definitely a feeling that I won't forget anytime soon. It's an honour at any level to represent your country but to get the opportunity to do it at a senior level is something I've hoped for. 

 

What was the lead up to the games like? I.E how long was the camp just prior to the tournament?

The camp just before the tournament was 4 days. We trained as well as scrimmaged against a local mens team up there which was great for us. Prior to departing to that camp, the 6 of us girls that were based in Melbourne trained twice a week with Cheryl (our assistant coach) which really helped us. 

 

Tell us a little about the week, how you felt you went?

The week was great. Obviously the games that we played weren't as close in terms of scoring but I believe that our team did a great job of working through that and still playing our game of basketball. For us, it wasn't about how much we won by, it was about getting better each game and executing our stuff. 

 

Coming back to DV this week, what are you feelings heading into your first game as an Eagle?

I'm excited to come back and play my first game. Obviously we play in Sydney Friday so it'll be good to see how we go against them.
