Junior Classic Results

Over the long weekend, three VJBL Eagles teams competed in the invitiational National Junior Classic, where the best junior teams in Australia compete over 3 days of games. The DVBA would love to thank everyone who committed their time and energy across the three days for the teams. Results are as followed:

Under 16 (1) Girls: Finished 5th out of 16 teams in pool

The groups talent was on full display across the 3 days, gaining two wins against Melbourne & Forestville, and just falling short to Manly Warringah. The girls played their quarter final against a strong Nunawading side, unfortunatley just falling short to move onto the semi-finals. Although the girls did not play off for the hardware, they continued to catch fire on the court, dominating the next two matches against Sandringham & Ballarat to secure the 5th spot in the age group!

Under 18 (1) Girls: Finished 14th out of 16 teams in pool

The 18s Eagles showed plenty of heart across the tournament, with a win against Hawthorn by 18, and falling short against Forestville Eagles & Dandenong. The ladies had a tough finals placing run, going 1-2 against Knox, North Bears & Hawthorn which put them at the 14th spot. With standout performances from Jade Dunne & Abby Hildebrand, the group had plenty of positives to take away from the tournament.

Under 18 (1) Boys: Finished 8th out of 16 teams in pool

The 18s boys came out firing on the first day, winning two very tight matches against North Adelaide & Canberra at the State Centre! The group almost made it a perfect 3/3 on the Sunday, but unfortunately lost a nailbiter against Kilsyth, who hit the winning shot in OT to steal the game. The boys ended up facing Sturt in the quarter final, and unfortunately fell short against the team who would go on to win the gold.
