The Eagle’s Victorian Youth Championship Women had a blinder last week. They took on Dandenong, the powerhouse of this competition over the last two seasons, the team that has won 40 of their 44 regular season games, the team that was top of the ladder all year, the team that couldn’t be beaten, the team that was going to win the title by the distance between the Diamond Valley and Dandenong stadiums ……………… and they lost.
Diamond Valley? Absolutely not, Dandenong lost and are now out of the final’s race for 2014. In two seasons they have folded when it mattered, making the big dance last year going down to Sandringham by 5, and being knocked out this year by the Eagles in the Elimination Final by 2.
